Yes, we’re happy to remove your old blinds as part of our service. In most cases, this is a quick and simple process. However, if your existing blinds are rusted, heavily fixed, or require additional time and effort for safe removal, there may be an additional charge. We’ll always let you know in advance if extra work is needed so there are no surprises.

Yes, we can remove your old blinds as part of our paid for service. However, due to waste disposal regulations, businesses must either be or use licensed waste carriers, and commercial vehicles (including branded vans) may have restricted access to council recycling centres. Because of this, there will be an additional charge for disposal, depending on the type and quantity of blinds.

• Material Blinds: Dust regularly with a microfiber cloth or vacuum with a soft brush attachment.
• Shutters/Faux Wooden/Metal/Wooden: Wipe with a damp cloth and mild cleaner. As a preventative measure The Blinds Brothers recommend  Vuplex Plastic Cleaner Anti-Static Polish, one of the best anti-static cleaner on the market.
• Curtains & Voiles: Check care label - some may be machine washable, while others require dry cleaning.

• Stains: Most material blinds are made from polyester composite fabric, which is durable and easy to clean. If you get a stain, follow these steps:

1. Dust first – Use a soft brush or vacuum with a brush attachment to remove surface dust.
2. Use mild soapy water – Mix warm water with a mild detergent (avoid bleach or harsh chemicals).
3. Spot clean gently – Dampen a soft cloth or sponge and blot the stain – don’t rub, as this may damage the fabric.
4. Rinse with clean water – Use a separate damp cloth to remove any soap residue.
5. Air dry fully – Let the blind dry completely before rolling it up to prevent mildew.

Avoid: Soaking, scrubbing hard, or using abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the protective coating on the fabric.

For stubborn stains, specialist blind cleaning sprays may help – just check they’re suitable for polyester composites 

Use a steel tape measure for accuracy. Measure the width and height of your window frame at three points (top, middle, bottom) and record the largest measurement. For inside mounts, ensure the window frame has enough depth; for outside mounts, add an extra 50mm per side width to minimise light gaps. 

Yes! Many modern window treatments are designed with safety in mind. Cordless blinds, motorised options, and tensioned chains reduce hazards, making them ideal for homes with children and pets. Additionally, all new blinds must comply with strict safety standards, ensuring built-in protective features 

If a window treatment still has loose cords or chains, safety devices must be installed to prevent accidents. Options include:

• Cord cleats to wrap up excess cords.
• Tensioners to secure chains to the wall.
• Breakaway connectors that snap open under pressure.

Standard blinds are not automatically fire-resistant, but many fabrics and materials can be fire-retardant. This means they slow the spread of flames but may still burn under extreme heat.

For added fire protection, you can choose:

• Fire-retardant blinds – Treated to meet UK fire safety standards (BS 5867 for fabrics, BS EN 16034 for shutters).
• Fireproof blinds – Made from materials that do not ignite or sustain flames.
• Fire-suppressing blinds – Designed to block heat and smoke, offering maximum safety in high-risk areas.
